Pays for medical expenses and lost wages for you and your passengers after an accident, regardless of fault.

What is personal injury protection (pip)?

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) covers medical expenses, lost wages, and certain other costs for you and your passengers after an accident — regardless of who caused it. PIP is required in no-fault states.

Details

PIP is mandatory in ‘no-fault’ states like Florida, New York, Michigan, and New Jersey. In these states, your own insurer pays for your medical care first, regardless of fault, with limited ability to sue the other driver. PIP covers medical bills, often lost wages, sometimes funeral expenses, and sometimes services like childcare.
