How we work

Editorial methodology

QuoteYeti is an independent insurance research publisher. Our editorial decisions — which carriers we cover, how we rate them, and what we recommend — are made by our editorial team, independent of business arrangements with carriers. Here's how the work gets done.

Why a methodology page exists

Insurance editorial coverage has a credibility problem. Many "best of" lists are sponsored content disguised as independent ranking. Many "review" sites are paid by the carriers they review. We don't want to be those sites — so we publish our methodology so you can evaluate the work yourself.

How ratings are constructed

For each insurance vertical, we score carriers on three dimensions:

Specific weights vary by vertical based on what matters most to consumers in that category. Our specific weights and data sources are listed on each individual review page.

Who we cover

We cover major national carriers in each vertical, plus regional carriers and specialty carriers where they're competitive. We don't cover every carrier — we focus on those most likely to be relevant to consumer shopping decisions.

If we cover a carrier, we cover them whether or not they're in our referral partner network. If a carrier is not in our partner network, we still review them; we just don't have a direct "get a quote" link for them.

How we make money

QuoteYeti earns referral fees when readers click through to certain carriers from our site. Some of the carriers we review are in our referral partner network; some aren't. Our editorial ratings and recommendations are not influenced by which carriers participate.

Specifically:

This is a real commitment, not marketing language. We've turned down lucrative carrier partnerships when they came with editorial strings attached.

How we update content

Insurance markets move. Rates change. Carriers enter and exit markets. Underwriting rules shift. We update content as conditions change:

Each editorial page shows when it was last updated. If you find outdated information, email editorial@quoteyeti.com.

Editorial corrections

If we publish something factually incorrect, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections include a "Correction" note on the page describing what changed.

Conflicts of interest

Our editorial team members don't hold positions, advisory roles, or compensation arrangements with insurance carriers. We disclose any potential conflicts when they exist — they currently don't.
