FAQ
What happens if I'm in an accident?
Step-by-step after an accident:
- Check for injuries. Call 911 if anyone is hurt.
- Move to safety if vehicles are drivable and you’re in traffic.
- Call the police — even minor accidents should have a report on file.
- Document the scene: photos of all vehicles, license plates, damage, surroundings, road conditions.
- Exchange information: name, phone, address, insurance carrier, policy number, license plate.
- Get witness contact info if anyone witnessed the accident.
- Don’t admit fault to the other driver or in your statement — let your insurer determine fault.
- Report to your insurer as soon as possible, even if you don’t plan to file a claim.
Your insurer will assign an adjuster, investigate, and determine fault and coverage. Keep records of medical visits, repair estimates, and any out-of-pocket expenses.
