The NHTSA awarded the 2017 model a 4-Star Overall Safety Rating. The NHTSA gave the automobile four out of five stars in the frontal crash test and one out of five stars in the rollover crash test. The Hyundai Elantra was also designated an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, with the highest rating in all crash testing. The frontal collision prevention was likewise rated superior by the IIHS, earning it the best possible grade.
